Sumario:Journalism in Ecuador, as well as worldwide, has undergone significant transformations and changes both inside and on their role in society. Innovation in journalism goes from the internal reorganization of journalistic work until their modes of dissemination, in this case through new virtual platforms where journalistic content are exposed, to a transformation of habits that include audiovisual production. These changes have a direct connection with new forms of news consumption which implies a change in the skills required to reporters, their roles and functions, work schedules, geography newsrooms and the agendas for different media, the type of language and the relationship with users. Within this stage, social networks play a leading role because with them the so-called "social interaction", which is not always exploited or enhanced by the media arises, but in general, are growing rapidly because of its advantages is to allow the creation of spaces to express ideas and feelings about news events. While these social networks have enabled the emergence of new communication contents and thus new possibilities of interaction that demonstrate the new role of journalists in our society, national media do not maximize these resources and rather stay in a stage of repetition and reiteration of informative content that does not allow this interaction is developed.
