Summary:Educational quality is the welfare state of an institution, in universities, for example, for students it is important that the professional is a role model that inspires learning and has high levels of competence. The general objective is to offer a theoretical approach to professional teacher training with standards of quality teaching in higher education. It was used legal and scientific productions indexed in Spanish and English as support. The methodology used is bibliographical based on the hermeneutical approach. The main results indicate that high professional research teacher training determines the quality of teaching processes and the performance standards are necessary, guide what should know and make a professional to be considered competent. The conclusions reveal key aspects of teacher training research and quality standards for the development of discussions, before applying an evaluation. It is recommended to deepen in high-impact scientific studies and methodologies of evaluation to the educational quality to improve processes of investigation in universities in order to raise the teaching and to explore advanced research of programs of professional formation and standards of quality universities at local level, National and international levels in order to reconstruct, design and implement flexible professionalism systems in our country with methodologies, techniques and indicators to promote self-evaluation of academic culture and open spaces for dialogue between teachers and researchers in search of professional updating processes
