Summary:The present work was carried out with the objective of analyzing the market forces that exist in the production of bananas in the province of El Oro and Ecuador during the period 2009-2016. For the analysis of the evolution of Ecuadorian banana exports in the last eight years, the volume of tons exported worldwide by the country were used, taking into account the most traded banana species, the percentage of area cultivated in each province, the number of hectares in production and the participation of the main producing provinces of this product. The country is currently considered the main exporter of bananas in the world, since it contributes with 28.4% of the world supply, bananas that are cultivated in 186,221 hectares, located mostly in the provinces of Los Ríos, El Oro and Guayas. El Oro being considered the second province with greater production, contributing with 22.8% to the total exports, which generate the country great income, favoring the national economy thanks to the high existing demand from international markets such as the European Union, the United States of America and the Russian Federation, which import 55% out of the total of this fruit.
